The Lamorinda Petanque Club terrain is a park-like setting with shade trees and picnic tables. The terrain is free form, unless it has been demarcated into separate pistes. The Select Doubles tournament that I played in there in 2007 was a thoroughly enjoyable experience though the level of play was very challenging! Well located to be a reasonable drive from other clubs, the competitions regularly attract players from Sacramento, Sonoma and the Bay Area. The terrain surface is a decomposed granite (DG) with some larger stones tossed about to add interest. The surface can be quite fast, and there are slopes to add to the challenge. The design of the park was developed by a landscape architect to incorporate the terrain, shade trees and pleasant setting. Rest rooms are a short walk down the street in either direction at neighboring parks. To learn more about the Lamorinda Petanque Club click on this link. |
